# Configuration

The detector configuration is immutable. Create a new detector when rules
change. Options are resolved with this precedence:

```text
allowList
↓ wins over
blockList
↓
language dictionaries
```

`blockList` adds application-specific whole words. `allowList` suppresses a
word even when it comes from a built-in pack. With multiple packs, allowlist
precedence applies across every pack's normalization locale and does not depend
on pack order. `replacement` sets the default single code point used by
`filter()`.
